NEW DELHI: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaid visited India from March 1 to 3 with a dual purpose – to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting and to attend the Raisina Dialogue Conference.
At the G20 ministerial meeting held on March 2, Albusaid shared Oman’s approach to peace-making, rooted in centuries of water-sharing experience. In his speech, Oman’s principles of tolerance, dialogue, noninterference, and good neighbourliness took the centre-stage.
The minister also highlighted the importance of representing the Global South’s concerns. He advocated the role of multilateral solutions and institutions to address supply chain disruptions, debt distress, geopolitics, and climate change challenges.
During his visit, Albusaid met India’s Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar. Both leaders reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to enhancing cooperation, especially in economic, trade, and joint investments. They stressed the need for continued consultations, knowledge sharing, and experience exchange.
The Oman’s minister expressed gratitude for India’s invitation to Oman as a Guest of Honour at the G20 meetings, showcasing the deep friendship between the two nations.
Jaishankar praised Oman’s constructive contributions to the G20 meetings and its positive impact on global discussions.
