While the Adani Group has grown spectacularly in the last few years, making Chairman Gautam Adani the richest businessperson in Asia, the growth hasn’t come at the expense of social responsibility. Its success has come hand in hand with the social welfare of the communities in surrounding areas.
The Group invests about 2 percent of its total profit in various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives through the Adani Foundation. By responding to the emerging needs at the grassroots level, its teams are focused on aligning all activities with the global Sustainable Development Goals, striving to secure a hopeful future for millions.
Dr. Priti Adani is the Chairperson of the Adani Foundation. Wife of Gautam Adani, she is an educationist and qualified doctor with Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS). She has been treading a path hitherto less traveled in the CSR space. Focusing on the mantra of Growth with Goodness, Dr. Adani is as much a businesswoman as she is a responsible citizen helping create sustainable solutions to complex problems. “She has been spearheading Adani Foundation, her brainchild, passionately for two decades now — ensuring that the Adani Group helps transform the lives of as many people as possible,” says the Foundation’s website.
Under her guidance and leadership, Foundation has been carrying out its activities in four core areas, namely, education, community health, sustainable livelihood development, and infrastructure development. At present, the Foundation is helping uplift 3.4 million people annually across 18 states of the country.
Resilience to rising The Adani Foundation has always believed in service to humanity. This mantra has been severely put to test in the past year. As we have learned, communities are closely-knit bonds between people. Communities nurture people and protect them through the worst of times. Currently, we are in the midst of a storm in the form of COVID-19. Yet, we retain hope in these challenging times, supporting communities to develop resilience and rise again.
The Foundation aims to reach the remotest corners of India and engage local communities to equip them in becoming self-sufficient. Synergies between these initiatives are ushering in development that is sustainable and measurable impacts.
With a vision to accomplish passionate commitment to the social obligations towards communities by fostering sustainable and integrated development, the Foundation has identified partnerships to be a key strategic driver.
