IMD issues heatwave warning, temperature to touch 45 degrees in Delhi

NEW DELHI: The temperature in Delhi and surrounding areas, Punjab and Rajasthan is on the rise and could touch 45 degrees on May 18, according to India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast.

On May 15, maximum temperatures ranged between 40-42°C in various regions, including parts of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch, and Vidarbha.

Additionally, isolated areas in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Uttar Pradesh also recorded similar temperatures.

A gradual rise in maximum temperatures by approximately 3-4°C is expected over many parts of northwest and east India over the next four days,
