NEW DELHI: The meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs withheld the draft report on three bills to replace the existing criminal laws.
This was done after Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, along with other opposition leaders like Congress’ P Chidambaram, Derek O Brien of the TMC and DMK’s NR Elango demanded some time to go through the drafts again, sources said.
These MPs also raised the issue of the name of the bills.
The next meeting of the committee will be held on November 6, 2023. Earlier, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by BJP MP Brij Lal began got underway. The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee was held in the committee room of the Parliament House Annexe.
