Team Blitz India
The rise in the sale of Khadi means its benefit reaches large sections across cities and villages where our weavers, handicraft artisans, farmers, cottage industries engaged in growing Ayurvedic plants – all stand to gain, reminded PM Modi in his 106th Episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on October 29.
“This is the strength of the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign,” he said, adding that it underlines the gradual increase in support of all countrymen towards this end.
He reiterated his request that whenever anyone travels for tourism or pilgrimage, one should buy products made by the local artisans there.
“In the overall budget of your travel itinerary, do include purchasing local products as an important priority. Be it ten percent, twenty percent, as much as your budget allows, you should spend it on local and spend it only there,” he exhorted.
The PM asked citizens to prioritise ‘Vocal for Local’ during festivals so that together, we fulfil the dream of an ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat’.
“This time, let us illuminate homes only with a product which radiates the fragrance of the sweat of one of my countrymen, the talent of a youth of my country…,” he asked of citizens, “which has provided employment to my countrymen in its making.”
In every kind of daily life’s requirements, “we shall buy local,” he said.
He reminded, “Today India is becoming the world’s biggest manufacturing hub. Many big brands are manufacturing their products here. If we adopt those products, then Make In India gets a fillip and this too is being ‘Vocal For Local’.”
