NEW DELHI: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Kasaragod district was launched at Periya in Kerala on November 26 from where it proceeded on a tour of the other districts of the state.
The event was inaugurated by the Periya Gram Panchayat President CK Aravindakshan, while in Kollam district the next day, former Member of Parliament and actor Suresh Gopi flagged off the Information Education Communication (IEC) mobile van as part of the Yatra in Kerala. Special IEC vans will move around various places in the districts, spreading awareness about the schemes.
The effort for a nationwide outreach initiative aimed at informing and empowering citizens about the Central Government’s flagship schemes has since been campaigned in several districts in Kerala. Apart from Kasaragod and Kollam, the campaign also rolled across Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Wayanad districts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on November 15 from Khunti in Jharkhand. Aimed at saturating the benefits of Central Government schemes across the nation, the yatra seeks to cover almost every Gram Panchayat in the country.
In 2021, as part of the year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence, the Union Cabinet in a meeting decided to remember the contribution of tribal freedom fighters on November 15.
