NEW DELHI: In a move to promote cooperation in space science and technology research, the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
NIT and ISST will collaborate on a set of academic activities, including supervision of M.Tech and Ph.D. thesis works and conducting conferences, seminars, and workshops.
“The MoU will help both the institutions to exchange information on research and academic programmes,” said Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT, Calicut, who signed the MoU for NIT-C. Efforts are essential to utilize the MoU as it will benefit the faculty and students, he pointed out.
With the agreement to jointly supervise M.Tech/PhD students for their research projects, the students can use laboratory facilities at both institutions. Students for these benefits will be selected considering their merit in academic and research areas.
On his part, Dr S Unnikrishnan Nair, Director of IIST, said, “We must focus on the proper follow-up of the MoU to joint research in related fields and research outcomes.” He added that the MoU will open up more and more opportunities to both institutes.
