MUMBAI: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed confidence that the Gems and Jewellery Park set up in Navi Mumbai in collaboration with the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will not only achieve the target of the state’s exports in this area, but also help the economy of the state grow multifold.

He was speaking at the India International Jewellery Show organised by GJEPC in Mumbai on January 6. Industry Minister Uday Samant, GJEPC President Vipul Shah, Vice President Kirit Bhansali and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister has set a target to export diamonds and jewellery worth USD 75 billion dollars from the country by the year 2030. It can only be achieved through the efforts of GJEPC, Fadnavis said on the occasion.

A common facility center set up in Seepz in just 17 months will make exports easier. The state government will also make new investments in this sector. Fadnavis assured that the government will help create a new system in Maharashtra for exports of diamonds and jewellery industry.

Industries Minister Uday Samant expressed hope that GJEPC would help in setting up diamond and jewellery industry in rural areas as well. Vipul Shah, President of GJEPC, assured that with the setting up of the jewellery park in Navi Mumbai, huge investments will flow from abroad.

He also said that this jewellery park will not only provide cheap electricity but will reduce costs and create a good environment for working efficiently. He also said that the common facility center set up in Mumbai will increase production, benefit from modern technology and provide opportunities for skill development.
