SCRETARY General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi has said that the United Arab Emirates plays a significant role in enriching the Gulf media landscape.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Arab Media Summit 2024, AlBudaiwi stated that the UAE has emerged as a prominent hub for key forums that address the current state and future trajectory of diverse sectors, with the media industry playing a crucial role as a catalyst for change.
He pointed to the importance of continuing to advance Gulf cooperation in various paths, including economic, political, and social fields, while strengthening media capabilities that play a vital role in enhancing comprehensive Gulf development.
“The GCC countries share a strong bond, working collaboratively on important issues. We have unified messages that extend beyond media; they encompass political, economic, social, and educational spheres. Regular meetings on these topics, including media, ensure we remain aligned and effective,” he told WAM.
AlBudaiwi also highlighted the recent Gulf media ministerial meeting held in Qatar. The meeting focused on strengthening the role of Gulf countries, their shared media messages, and public pronouncements.
It aimed, he said, to revitalise the media sector and enhance the work of the Committee of Information Ministers. He emphasised the need to develop media capabilities alongside other development priorities.
