The event celebrates outstanding young entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions to society, both individually and organizationally, making India proud. The Academy Entrepreneurship Excellence Awards will be presented to these successful entrepreneurs to inspire the youth and promote valuable startups and entrepreneurship.
UNESCO emphasizes the potential of young people as agents of peace and the importance of providing them with skills and opportunities to address challenges and contribute to a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future. The theme for World Youth Skills Day 2024, “Youth Skills for Peace and Development,” underscores the crucial role of youth in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
With 42% of the world’s population under 25, including over 660 million young people in India, there is a pressing need to reimagine education and skill development to ensure zero unemployment. This includes creating enterprising minds and tech-savvy professionals to meet the growing demand for skills in new and emerging technologies, particularly with the rise of AI and smart automation.
The WEF “Future of Jobs” report 2023 highlights the need for reskilling, with six in 10 workers requiring training before 2027. Analytical and creative thinking, AI, and big data are top priorities for skills training. By 2025, 85 million jobs may be replaced by automation, but 97 million new jobs are expected to emerge, highlighting the need for continuous skill adaptation.
The “India Skills Report” 2024 emphasizes the growing importance of AI skills for India’s future workforce. There is a significant gap between the demand and supply of AI professionals, with a projected demand of 1 million AI-skilled professionals by 2026. This underscores the need for focused skilling initiatives in AI, robotics, and data science.
The event includes a round table on “Skilling Youth for Viksit Bharat@2047” These discussions recognize the critical role of equipping youth with the skills needed to realize the vision of a fully developed India by 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence.
W-AHEAD, along with IIEE and NIS, is committed to working with educational institutions, industry, corporate, community, media and government. This collaborative approach aims to empower India and the world in skilling youth to co-create a bright and blissful future for global humanity.
