UAE’s vibrant capital Abu Dhabi has been ranked as the safest city in the world for the eighth consecutive year. The report was shared by the latest Global Liveability Index from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and Numbeo’s Global Rankings for 2024.

With a score of 88.2 points for safety and the lowest point of 11.8 on crime, the capital of the United Arab Emirates also tops the list as the most liveable city in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, underscoring its exceptional standards of safety and quality of life.

Abu Dhabi is thriving with low crime rates; it’s the perfect vacation destination, devoid of safety concerns, but full of fun and culture, said a report in an India national daily. New places are daunting for tourists with concerns about law and order issues, but in Abu Dhabi, tourists can relax and explore to their hearts’ content, it added.

Achieving an impressive 88.2 points on Numbeo’s Safety Index, Abu Dhabi continues to set a global benchmark for safety. The city’s Crime Index score stands at a remarkably low 11.8, highlighting its effective measures in maintaining public safety and ensuring the well-being of its residents.

A global benchmark

Abu Dhabi is noted for its excellent healthcare and education systems, which significantly enhance its liveability, said another report. With 3,323 healthcare facilities, including 67 hospitals and 1,068 pharmacies, and a robust network of 12,922 licensed doctors, Abu Dhabi’s healthcare infrastructure ranks among the best globally.

The city’s dominance in safety and liveability also highlights the progress made by other Gulf cities. Kuwait City, Doha, and Bahrain are advancing in the rankings, with Dubai making notable strides. Dubai ranks second in liveability within the UAE and fifth globally for safety.

Listing multiple factors, a blogger has commented that a combination of effective law enforcement, stable political environment, stringent regulations, and cultural values contribute to Abu Dhabi’s reputation as one of the safest cities in the world.

Abu Dhabi, said the blog, maintains low crime rates compared to many other cities globally. The city’s strict laws and robust law enforcement contribute to maintaining public safety and security. Abu Dhabi has a wellequipped and trained police force that ensures law and order are maintained across the city.

The political stability enjoyed by the UAE also contributes to a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors to Abu Dhabi alike, according to the blogger. Also, the city has strict regulations governing various aspects of life, including traffic rules, public behavior, and business operations.
