N Chandrasekaran is named B20 India Chair

The centre has apponited Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, as the Chair of Business 20 (B20) India to lead the business agenda during India’s G20 Presidency. B20 is the forum for corporates and businesses from the G20 nations. Integration into global value chains and building trade resilience, skilling and mobility of workers, financing growth and sustainable infrastructure, and climate change and efficiency in utilisation of resources will be on the agendas of Indian businesses during India’s G20 Presidency.

‘Women-led development’ praised by Russian Sherpa

Russian G20 Sherpa Svetlana Lukash lauded India and Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant for putting ‘women-led development’ as one of the group’s key priorities. She wrote on Twitter: “Grateful to #G20India and @amitabhk87 for putting ‘women-led development’ as one of the key priorities of G20. Women are catalysers of positive transformations!” In a series of tweets, Lukash said, she was impressed with the Indian coordination team, which was highly professional.

Rajasthani delicacies on the platter for delegates

Sherpas and delegates got a taste of Rajasthani traditional Mewati spread of delicacies, including the signature dish of Rajasthan, daalbaati and churma. ‘Chhonka hua matar’ (green peas tempered with aromatic spices), ‘cholai ro saag’ (stir fried amaranth leaves), ‘aloo rasedar’ (potato curry), ‘bhune baigan ro bharto’ (roasted eggplant mash cooked with spices) were for the main course with an assortment of breads. For rice lovers, ‘masala khichdi’ (spiced rice and lentils), as well as a warm and nutritious ‘bajre ka khichda’ (pearl millet, rice and lentils) were on the platter.

Delegates witness magic of age-old Jal Sanjhi art

Sherpas and delegates were introduced to the age-old Jal Sanjhi art form on December 5. It is a rare temple art where the life and times of Lord Krishna are depicted on water. The art form is considered to be over 300-year-old and is practiced for generations. This is one of the many art forms that makes India’s culture rich and diverse, something that the G20 presidency will highlight about India in the days to come
