NEW DELHI: Dubai will once again turn into a global hub for gaming and esports when the fifth edition of the Dubai Esports & Games Festival takes place from May 8 to 24, bringing tournaments, industry events and family-focused experiences across the city, reported DD News.
Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the festival has grown rapidly since its launch in 2022. Last year’s edition attracted more than 45,000 fans, families and industry professionals across 12 major events. The 2026 edition comes as Dubai continues to strengthen its digital and creative economy, following initiatives led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through the Dubai Media Council to advance the emirate’s film and gaming sectors. The festival also aligns with the emirate’s long-term development strategy under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aimed at positioning Dubai among the world’s top three global cities.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said the event has evolved into a key platform for the global gaming industry. “Dubai Esports & Games Festival has evolved into a strategic platform that reflects Dubai’s global ambition in gaming, esports and digital innovation,” said Ahmed Al Khaja. “By convening global industry leaders, developers, investors and fans in one citywide celebration, DEF continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as a major international hub for gaming and interactive entertainment.” Among the main highlights are GameExpo, the GameExpo Summit powered by PG Connects, Play Beyond and the Dubai Cosplay Championship.
