It noted the Union fiscal deficit falling from 4.7 per cent in 2024-25 to 4.4 per cent in 2025-26. Three-tenths of a percentage point sounds small; it is a sixth of the way to three per cent. Food Prices : Onion Buffer Moves By Rail From Nashik
The Department of Consumer Affairs has begun a calibrated release of the onion buffer, moving stock out of Nashik by the Kanda Express and by road, to hold down the seasonal rise in price. The Ministry says availability is adequate. What makes this worth watching is the method: a buffer released in measured quantities rather than in one consignment is an attempt to steady a price without collapsing it for the grower.
