ABU Dhabi is set to have its very first commercial beer brewery. According to Bloomberg, Craft by Side Hustle has secured a license from the emirate to sell freshly brewed beer on tap at its premises.
This development is a result of a rule change enacted in Abu Dhabi in 2021, allowing licensed establishments to ferment alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption.
Craft by Side Hustle, situated in The Galleria on Abu Dhabi’s Al Maryah Island, will be the pioneer microbrewery to operate under this revised regulation. The venue, boasting 250 seats, is a joint venture led by the Balmaghie Beverage Group alongside other investors The brewery will have the capacity to produce approximately 25,000 pints each month, offering a unique space for enthusiasts to indulge in freshly brewed beer Chad McGehee, CEO of Balmaghie, said, “We started this company so that we can drink better here.” The establishment plans to commence operations with a soft opening this month, followed by a grand opening scheduled for February, as reported by Bloomberg.
Balmaghie Beverage Group had initially introduced beer to the UAE market in 2019, and this latest venture represents a notable expansion of their presence in the region.
