NEW DELHI: In an encouraging development, the UP Government has signed a series of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 25,000 crore with 33 entrepreneurs ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) 2023.
Bolstered by the huge response, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has hiked the target of attracting investment intents of worth Rs 10 Lakh crore at UPGIS 2023 to Rs. 11.7 lakh core a week ahead of the summit.
The Government has also come out with a new online system for signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and monitoring their implementation.
The three-day mega event from February 10 to February 12 will witness participation of more than 10,000 delegates (domestic and international) from over two dozen countries.
Many roadshows held
Leading to UPGIS 2023, the Government of Uttar Pradesh organised many roadshows in India and abroad to propagate the investment attractiveness of Uttar Pradesh and garner investment intents.
Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi had sent eight teams of senior officials to hold roadshows in foreign countries while similar exercises were conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and a dozen other Indian cities.
Many progressive economies like the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Germany, The Netherlands and UAE have already committed to be the ‘Partner Country’ at the UPGIS 2023.
Best place to invest
In a video message to the investors, Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi said Uttar Pradesh is a leading state in the ease-of-doing business, with good governance, zero- tolerance towards crime and corruption, largest consumer market, singlewindow clearance, as well as investment-friendly policies.
“UP is the best place to invest in all aspects and is poised to become the second- largest economy of the country. As per the resolution of the PM, UP is ready to accelerate India’s economic growth,” the Chief Minister added.
Through this flagship summit, the state Government aspires to reinforce the investment attractiveness of Uttar Pradesh amongst the investor community and create opportunities for an inclusive development of the state.
Summit components
UPGIS 2023 will witness sectorspecific knowledge sessions, Partner Country sessions, meetings, networking meets, innovation exhibition with global tech-products being displayed from across the world, art & craft representation of Uttar Pradesh and cultural programmes among other elements.
The summit will be an amalgamation of world’s business, political and Government leaders coming together for the economic development of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event, while President Droupadi Murmu is likely to attend the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. More than 20 Union ministers are likely to take part in the event.
A unique feature of the mammoth exercise will be intimate involvement of the people Uttar Pradesh in the development of the state. The state Government also proposes to hold divisional summits at eight divisional headquarters, besides the districtlevel summits.
