NEW DELHI: Indian-American Neal Mohan will take over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YouTube as Susan Wojcicki steps down after nine years at the helm of the world’s largest online video platform.
From Google and Microsoft to Cognizant and Adobe, a growing number of technology-focused firms are today led by Indian-origin chief executives. Neal Mohan joins Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, and others on long list of Indianorigin executives leading tech firms. Being one of the senior-most officials under Susan Wojcicki, Neal Mohan has also served as the Chief Production Officer of YouTube in the past. He is a known technology executive who has managed to make developments in the digital advertising industry.
Born in 1975, Neal Mohan grew up in the state of Texas and attended Stanford University. He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to earn a master’s degree from the same university. He started as a technology consultant at Accenture and later he joined DoubleClick, an online advertising company. In 2007, Neal Mohan joined Google as the Vice President of Product and Strategy for Advertising.
After leaving Google in 2015 and joined YouTube as its Chief Product Officer. He worked on the development of new products and features, including YouTube TV, the company’s live TV streaming service.
