WASHINGTON: With the BJP taking a lead by announcing first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming General Elections in India, party supporters settled in the US have also started their campaign.
According to media reports, Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP), US, President Adapa Prasad kick-started the campaign from Maryland in Washington DC last week. He said the Indian diaspora is mobilising support for the BJP in India. Nearly 100 members of the OFBJP participated in the Maryland event.
Pre-pollanalyses related to v a r i o u s states were presented at the event. Prasad said the OFPJP reviewed the progress in various states and shared an elaborate presentation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements.
It is reported that over 3,000 volunteers have signed up for various poll-related activities of the OFBJP.
The OFBJP has also committed to making 25 lakh phone calls from America to encourage Indians to vote for the BJP and ensure PM Modi’s third consecutive term in office. Nationwide programmes, such as Modi’s Guarantee, neighbourhood tea discussions, car rallies, and Holi celebrations, will also be held.
Kavaljeet Singh Soni, spokesperson of the Sikh unit of the OFBJP, said, “We are ready. We are all in high spirits. This time, we’ll cross 400 seats.”
