Barely a fortnight after hitting the one-year milestone, Blitz India has made major strides; and that’s a matter of huge pride and jubilation for all of us.

Besides coming up with a dedicated page on legal issues, we have launched an upgraded website, a YouTube channel and, most importantly, the UK edition of the weekly newspaper. More than an individual achievement, we consider this as an unqualified endorsement of development journalism and acknowledge that there is a need to propagate it further. The multipronged initiative is a manifestation of our resolve to take the mission of development journalism forward, with greater vigour and enthusiasm.

Our Cover Story is about India’s upcoming opportunity to lead from the front as the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting kicks off in New Delhi next month. In a world fraught with contestation along several fronts, India as the President of the premier grouping, can help devise a global roadmap for the future, says our story. It is poised to play the role of a ‘leading power’ – one that sets rules and shapes outcomes. The G20 presidency could not have come at a more opportune time for India to showcase its capabilities, according to our story. Listing the multiple advantages that it possesses, the story concludes that during its G20 presidency, India will be aiming to move the world away from polarisation towards a greater sense of solidarity. Apart from this report, the front page carries a gist of our special story in the inaugural UK edition.

India as the President of the premier grouping can help devise a global roadmap for the future

The UP Global Investors Summit, described by the state CM as the ‘mahakumbh’ of investment, proved to be a resounding success and we cover it prominently on the Zoom-In and Rising India pages. In his inaugural address at the threeday mega event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted how Uttar Pradesh is now known for “good governance, peace, law and order, and stability”, adding that the state is “witnessing holistic development.”

The main report on the Centrespread zooms in on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s address while another report focuses on the perception of top business houses about the changing face of UP and the investment commitments made by them.

Speaking about the economic miracle that the state has witnessed during the last six years, CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh was ready to perform the role of the growth engine of the country. He then listed a slew of measures taken by his Government to usher in an environment that is favourable for the industrial development of the state. The G20 Podium carries a special writeup by a top former bureaucrat in which he elaborates on learning from G20 nations while presenting an evidence-based agenda for priority action. Besides, we carry a report about five priority areas identified at the tourism working group meeting and another on the Energy Transitions Working Group meeting, which discussed issues like gaps in critical technologies, low-cost financing of clean sources of energy and fuels of the future. Among the week’s specials is a report on India’s Vishwaguru moment in the context of the relief it is providing in quake-hit Turkey, apart from some exclusive write-ups.
