NEW DELHI: The Central Government has announced plans to borrow 53.07 per cent of its full-year target in the first half (April-September) of the upcoming financial year (FY25).
In a departure from the usual pattern of issuing green bonds in the latter half of the year, the Union Government plans to issue green bonds worth Rs 12,000 crore in the first half of 2024-25. These shall be issued in two tranches of Rs 6,000 crore each, with a maturity period of 10 years.
“In order to enable institutional and retail investors to plan their investments efficiently and provide transparency and stability to the government securities market, the Government of India (GoI), in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, hereby notifies the indicative calendar for issuance of government dated securities, including sovereign green bonds (SGrB) for the first half of 2024-25 (April 01, 2024 to September 30, 2024),” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
