Dubai has secured a position among the top 10 cities in the prestigious Global Power City Index (GPCI) 2023.
This internationally recognised ranking, conducted by the Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies in Japan, solidifies Dubai as the only Middle East city to garner such global acclaim.
In the latest 2023 index, which evaluates major cities based on their ‘magnetism’ – their ability to attract people, capital, and enterprises – Dubai ascended three spots to secure the eighth position overall.
Dubai maintained its fourth position for the second consecutive year in the Cultural Interaction parameter, outperforming Tokyo, Istanbul, Madrid, Moscow, and Singapore. The top three positions were retained by London, New York, and Paris. Notably, it also maintained its leading regional ranking in Cultural Interaction.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, reflecting on this accomplishment, lauded Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“There is no limit to our ambitions, and with the unwavering dedication of our nation’s people, we will continue to strengthen Dubai’s position as a model for the cities of the future, achieving milestones that set the global standard. Dubai’s excellence and accomplishments stem from the visionary leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, propelling the city at an accelerated pace towards the pinnacle of leadership and excellence,” said Sheikh Hamdan.
Published annually since 2008, the Global Power City Index serves as a benchmark for evaluating the performance and competitiveness of cities worldwide. Governments, businesses, and individuals rely on this index to take decisions related to investment, immigration, and travel.
The comprehensive evaluation encompasses six parameters: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Liveability, Environment, and Accessibility, providing a holistic overview of cities’ impact and standing on the global stage.
