TAWAZUN Council and Marakeb Technologies, UAE, in collaboration with France’s Naval Group, has inked a significant joint development agreement to pioneer the National Combat Management System (NCMS) for the UAE Navy. This landmark agreement, announced via a joint press statement March 8 underscores a shared commitment to bolstering the UAE’s defence and security industries, fostering rapid growth, and delivering cutting-edge national defence solutions tailored to future needs.
The signing ceremony, held in Abu Dhabi, was attended by CEO of operations at Tawazun Council Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, Executive vicepresident, combat system and equipment at Naval Group, Lilian Brayle, and CEO of Marakeb Technologies, Basel Shuhaiber, coming together in the presence of senior officials.
Naval Group, in tandem with Marakeb Technologies LLC, a subsidiary of the Strategic Development Fund Company (SDF), has been entrusted as the joint development national partner for the NCMS program. The collaboration aims to spearhead the development of an advanced NCMS tailored for integration into the UAE Navy’s naval fleet, spanning both new-build and retrofitted vessels.
The CEO of Tawazun, Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, underscored the significance of the NCMS program in furnishing sovereign advantages in terms of control, customization, and system updates, aligning seamlessly with the evolving requirements of the UAE Navy. This strategic initiative marks a pivotal step forward in augmenting the UAE’s defence-industrial capabilities, charting a promising trajectory for future advancements in the sector.
