HONEYWELL and Volts UAE have announced plans to join forces to establish Abu Dhabi’s first gigafactory, slated to produce battery cells for Residential Energy Storage Systems (RESS) and scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. This initiative aligns with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, aimed at fostering sustainable innovations and practices.
Honeywell will contribute its expertise in providing cutting-edge solutions for building digital factories, automating processes, and implementing closed-loop control systems, thereby enhancing the performance of the advanced facility and ensuring its readiness for future requirements. George Bou Mitri, VP and GM of Honeywell Industrial Automation in MENA, emphasised the partnership’s significance in advancing the UAE’s energy revolution, referencing discussions at COP28.
With over 70 years of experience in the Middle East, Honeywell has been instrumental in supporting regional countries in economic development and diversification by integrating physical products with innovative software, in line with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability objectives.
On the other hand, Volts UAE is a provider of clean energy solutions that align with the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050. The strategic partnership with Honeywell has been commended by Andrey Kozhevin, Managing Partner of Volts UAE Ltd, for its dedication to sustainable development principles. Vladimir Mlynchik, the founder of Volts UAE Ltd, expressed satisfaction that this collaboration will accelerate the region’s transition towards sustainable energy. He also highlighted the shared commitment of both organisations to fostering innovations and implementing sustainable energy solutions.
