India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of UAE,in Abu Dhabi and reviewed the entire gamut of the comprehensive strategic partnership, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs,in New Delhi on November 15.
“EAM expressed satisfaction over the continuous exchange of high-level visits and the exponential growth in the relationship. They also discussed the regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the statement noted.
In a post on X, Jaishankar shared a picture with Abdullah and outlined the meeting as a “productive day with a great meeting.”
“Completed a productive day with a great meeting with DPM & FM @ABZayed in Abu Dhabi. Discussed opportunities for advancing our wide-ranging cooperation. Also exchanged views on global developments,” the EAM said in his post.
Top ten investors
The UAE is India’s third largest trading partner and second largest export destination and ranks among top ten investors in India. The two countries also entered into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2022 aiming to achieve $100 billion in non-oil trade by 2030. The EAM’s official visit to the UAE on November 14 was his tenth one to the West Asian country since 2019.
Jaishankar and Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Co-existence, jointly inaugurated Symbiosis International University, Dubai campus. “EAM praised the expanding educational partnership between India and UAE,” the release stated.
The ties between India and the UAE have reached new heights, Jaishankar said, highlighting collaborations in sectors such as fintech, renewable energy, infrastructure, and defence.
BAPS Hindu Mandir
Jaishankar also visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. He said that the temple was a sign of friendship between India and UAE.
In a post on X, he said, “Received blessings at the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. A true symbol of India-UAE friendship and of peace, harmony and goodwill around the world.” Jaishankar also visited the Bharat Mart site in Dubai.
In a post on X, he said, “Visited Bharat Mart site in Jebel Ali, Dubai today along with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World. Once operationalised, this innovative logistics initiative will enhance India-UAE trade, deepen supply chains and bolster access for our MSMEs to global markets.” The EAM also launched his book, ‘Why Bharat Matters’ at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Dubai.
