Rising India Opportunity To Redefine Sustainable Growth

I congratulate all the stakeholders on International Education Day 2024! Higher education, today, has much important responsibility than ever in our human history. On the one side, the world is moving at an exponential growing pace in technology and economy while on the other side the challenges to peace, prosperity and harmony poses a serious question regarding the direction and model of growth the world has selected during last 2 to 3 centuries.

I am so happy to see the rising India with fast growth on a number of development indicators. I am confident that the vision of New Bharat@2047 will not be far to realise. However, this also presents an opportunity to the culturally rich India to develop and present a new growth model which focuses on development with happiness, equality, prosperity and peace. The new model of the development will be questioning and finding solutions for what has gone wrong in the conventional development models.

Universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India must join hands to create a collective power of higher education which will drive the new phase of development with fresh perspectives and goals. In the process, the research, training, teaching and capacity building will be playing important role.
