Team Blitz India
NEW DELHI: India’s leadership during its G20 presidency has been marked by a spirit of collaboration, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the country’s commitment to fostering international cooperation, facilitating domestic resource mobilisation, and driving tech-driven economic growth.
In a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva during the Annual Meetings of IMF-WB in Marrakech, Morocco, in October, Sitharaman underlined the significant milestones achieved under India’s presidency.
Domestic growth
The G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, a testament to India’s successful presidency, urged international financial institutions like the IMF and the World Bank to support efforts aimed at enhancing domestic resource mobilisation in emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs). The emphasis on bolstering domestic resources is crucial for developing economies’ sustainable growth and self-reliance.
Sitharaman thanked the IMF for its support during the G20 presidency, particularly around DPI. India’s advancement in this domain has not only been recognised but also promoted as a model for other nations.
IMF has endorsed an Indian style tech-driven economic growth and productivity gains, as it holds the potential for a more inclusive and digital future. Moreover, India’s presidency has facilitated discussions that will impact the future of the global economy
