Leaders wholeheartedly embraced the theme of India’s Presidency of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ and conveyed a strong consensus for joint action to address global challenges in the New Delhi Declaration,” Georgieva said.

Call to world leaders

She also urged the world leaders to take immediate action to counter climate change, especially ahead of COP28. The summit provides an opportunity to raise nations’ ambitions to avert catastrophic risks to the global economy and financial stability.

The MD emphasised that significant investments from both the international community and the private sector, coupled with an appropriate carbon pricing mechanism, are imperative to transform these ambitions into tangible actions.

She called on G20 members to lead by example in delivering the promised $100 billion per year for climate finance, backed by strengthened support from multilateral development banks.

Georgieva also recognised India’s achievements in the realm of digital technology, commending the nation’s top-tier digital public infrastructure and development which stands as an exemplary model for others to follow.

She encouraged further progress in the domains of digital money and crypto assets, with the G20 actively engaged in improving regulation and supervision of crypto assets and exploring the impact of central bank digital currencies on the global economy and financial system.
