‘Incredible India’ tagline to promote tourism
‘Incredible India! Visit India Year 2023’ will be the campaign tagline to promote India as a tourist destination during its G20 presidency. G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant is betting on India’s presidency to revive the nation’s tourism industry in the aftermath of devastation caused by Covid-19. “G20 is a huge opportunity to send back every visitor to India with a unique Indian experience which is culturally enriching, mentally rejuvenating and spiritually invigorating. Every G20 participant must go back home as a brand ambassador of Incredible India,” he said
Four UP cities chosen for multiple meetings
Four cities in Uttar Pradesh – Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Noida – have been selected to host multiple meetings during the G20 presidency. Agra will be hosting a two-day meeting of the G20 countries on September 9 and 10, 2023. The local administration has already started preparations. It has identified the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra, Fatehpur Sikri, and the tomb of Mirza Zafar Khan as places the delegates of G20 nations could visit. The inclusion of the Mirza Zafar Khan’s tomb has come as a surprise to many as it is a lesser-known monument and is in a shambles.
Coimbatore to host Science-20 Summit
The meeting of science ministers of the G20 will take place at Coimbatore in July next year. ‘Disruptive Science for Innovative and Sustainable Growth’, would be the theme of the meeting. During India’s G20 presidency, the city in Tamil Nadu will also host the Research Innovation Initiated Gathering (RIIG) on the theme ‘Research and Innovation for Equitable Society’.
‘India played key role in G20 Declaration’
India played a crucial role in negotiating the G20 Summit Declaration, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a press briefing, on November 18. She added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “made it clear that today’s era must not be of war”. India and the US, she said, share a critical relationship in countering “current food and energy security challenges” and strengthening world global economy.”
