NEW DELHI: The new campus of Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi in Abu Dhabi is all set to start its operation from the New Year. The campus is set to launch a Master’s programme in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) in January and the Bachelor’s courses are slated to start from September 2024.
IIT-D’s first overseas campus in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi, is offering 25 seats for its inaugural course and is already receiving a good responce.
Dr Ahmed Sultan Al Shoaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, informed the media that there are all chances that the number of seats may be increased due to increased demand and popularity of the campus.
Master’s in ETS focuses on preparing professionals and scholars in the energy industry for sustainable solutions and this postgraduate course is specifically designed for the Abu Dhabi campus.
ETS applicants will have to be from the science and engineering backgrounds and they will study a twoyear programme at Abu Dhabi campus.
The new campus of IIT-D has commenced as part of the IndiaUAE trade deal signed in 2022. Presently there are 23 IITs in India and these premier technological institutes offer undergraduate), postgraduate and doctorate-level programmes.
