NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday launched the PM Vishwakarma scheme with an outlay of 13,000 crore and dedicated to the nation the phase 1 of the International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi, in New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Prime Minister acknowledged the contribution of the Shramiks and Vishwakarmas in the construction of the magnificent facility. “Today I dedicate Yashobhoomi to every worker of the country, to every Vishwakarma”, he said. He told the Vishwakarmas that Yashobhoomi is going to be a vibrant centre connecting their creations with the world and global markets.
“The Viksit Bharat of today is crafting a new identity for itself in every sector”, PM Modi said referring to the Bharat Mandapam which had become a topic of discussion across the world and stated that Yashobhoomi furthered this tradition with greater magnificence. “The message from Yashobhoomi is loud and clear. Any event that takes place here will attain success and fame”, he said.
PM Modi said the PM Vishwakarma scheme was a ray of hope for lakhs of artisans and craftsmen who work with hands and tools. He said the need of the hour was to recognise the Vishwakarma partners and support them in every possible way. Under this scheme, Vishwakarmas working under 18 different sectors will be focussed, he said.
Yashobhoomi will find its place among the world’s largest MICE facilities with a total project area of over 8.9 lakh square metres and a total built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres.
The main auditorium is the plenary hall for the Convention Centre and is equipped with a seating capacity of around six thousand guests. PM Modi also inaugurated the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to Dwarka Sector 25.
