The history of 42 glorious years is in fact the history of the Herculean efforts made by the Rotarians of Rotary Club Gurgaon, R.I. Distt 3011. The odyssey began in 1981 when there was no secondary school in the great city of Guru Dronacharya.
The need of the hour was felt by the Rotarians of the Rotary Club Gurgaon and with a vision to impart quality education to society and the socially under privileged. The Rotary Service Trust was formed comprising of some elite professionals and entrepreneurs amongst the members of Rotary Club Gurgaon.
These men of genius, with confidence in God, joined heads and hands together and wove the threads of their project. Their devoted action plans multiplied million folds and built the fabric of Rotary Public School, the first ever Rotary Project with a vision to provide education to the underprivileged of society on a self-sustaining model.
Pioneering the cause of education Rotary Public School stands as the first venture of Rotary Service Trust Gurgaon whose foundation stone was laid by Dr.S.Y.Qureshi the then Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon Range. Initially the school made a humble start with only four rooms in sec-17 and a small number of students. The main aim of the school was “For the want of money, no deserving child should be deprived of the right to quality education”. With the passage of time, arose the need for a bigger & better building .Once again with the untiring efforts of leading Rotarians, the school was allotted 5 acres of land by HUDA. The task ahead was all the more challenging because sufficient funds were required for the construction of the building. With dreams in their eyes and vision in their minds, they took loan from the bank for its construction of the building . Hats off to the Trustees of Rotary Service Trust, who took a big risk and mortgaged their personal properties thus was established the First Senior Secondary School in Gurgaon affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.
Finally the dream came true in the year 2000, when the first rays of sunlight endowed upon superbly designed spacious building incorporating the latest in the school architecture and thus a new school saw the dawn whose foundation stone was laid by Past R.I.President Rtn.Carlo Ravizza & was also inaugurated by him.
Spread over sprawling locale of 5 acres, the present building of Rotary Public School in Sec22 is agronomically constructed & includes big play grounds, voluminous libraries backed by well-equipped Science , Maths & Social Studies. Labs, Gigantic Computer Labs with Cyber room, massive Amphitheatre with a seating Capacity of 2500, a well thought out ramp for the handicapped, a three bedded Medical Inspection Room and a fleet of buses for the comfortable commuting of the children, Sports Arenas and Ultra-modern Conference Room with power back facility, hightech Audio Visual Hall and to top it all technology enabled classrooms.
The school stands committed and does a Yoeman service to the society by providing 700 children belonging to economically challenged families access to Quality Education in the mainstream.
In this endeavour, the school is providing free Education to 33% students in most conducive environment. Setting higher standards of excellence, the students have won several laurels to school in academics by producing the city topper – Shreya Jain in the year 2018 and national players in Judo like Annu Kumari from this category of children to name a few.
Kudos to the dedication of the Rotarians of Rotary Club Gurgaon, who strive together towards the ultimate goal of serving humanity in the most befitting manner.
