NEW DELHI: Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Volker Wissing, used UPI to make a payment in India and was “very fascinated” by the experience.
The German embassy in India on August 20 hailed India’s digital infrastructure, calling it one of the country’s success stories.
Later, pictures and video were posted by the German embassy in India on X, in which Wissing can be seen using the UPI to make a payment to a vegetable seller.
In a tweet, the German embassy said, “One of India’s success story is digital infrastructure. UPI enables everybody to make transactions in seconds.
Millions of Indians use it. Federal Minister for Digital and Transport @ Wissing was able to experience the simplicity of UPI payments first hand and is very fascinated!”
