Wholesale inflation dips below double-digit mark
NEW DELHI: The country’s wholesale inflation eased to 8.39 per cent in October from 10.70 per cent in September, data released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed. The wholesale inflation has dropped below the double-digit mark for the first time since March 2021 when it was at 7.89 per cent. The wholesale price index (WPI) print came above the double-digit mark for 18 straight months from April 2021 to September 2022.
J&K L-G gifts Kashmir’s golden crop to the PM
NEW DELHI: J&K’s LtGovernor Manoj Sinha gifted a tray of Kashmir’s golden crop saffron to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on November 13. This year Kashmir had bumper saffron production and is expected to break previous records of harvest. The growers got 50 pc more returns for their produce due to some prominent companies buying in bulk. The L-G also briefed the PM about J&K’s agriculture and its allied sectors.
Air India ordered to pay $121.5 million refunds
NEW DELHI: The US has ordered Tata Group owned Air India to pay a whopping $121.5 million as refunds and $1.4 million as penalties for extreme delays in providing refunds to passengers due to the cancellation or change in flights, mostly during the pandemic. Air India is among the six airlines that have agreed to cough up a total of over $600 million as refunds, the US Department of Transportation said in Washington on November 14.
Sebi nods Adani Group offer for NDTV shares
MUMBAI: The Securities & Exchange Board of India on November 14 approved Adani Group’s open offer to buy an additional 26 per cent stake in broadcaster New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV). The conglomerate, owned by Asia’s richest man Gautam Adani, had revised the offer’s rollout date to November 22. It will close on December 5. The billionaire’s ports-to-power conglomerate triggered a hostile takeover bid for the broadcaster after it acquired an indirect 29.18 pc stake in August.
