NEW DELHI: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has said the Government is trying to introduce and implement the Mediation Bill – aimed at institutionalising mediation to settle civil and commercial disputes – in Parliament quickly to ensure speedy justice in such matters.
Speaking at All India Conference of Law Ministers and Law Secretaries, Rijiju said the burden on the judicial system will be eased by developing smooth systems that facilitate resolution of disputes outside the court.
He said the deliberations of the conference will be crucial in strengthening the judicial system. The purpose of this conference, he said, is to contribute to the realisation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Judiciary Vision 2047 by being a catalyst for the development of a strong judicial environment.
The law minister said coordination between the judiciary and the executive would be beneficial for the country. “As the backlog of cases is increasing, let us work together for the development of a simple and speedy justice system,” he said.
