NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh felicitated 25 winners of the Veer Gatha 2.0, at an award ceremony here on January 25.
Congratulating the winners, Singh commended their bravery, zeal and creativity, and expressed confidence that the young generation will provide a new and better direction not only to themselves but also to the society and the nation.
Lauding the Veer Gatha initiative, Singh said such projects will play a crucial role in infusing values of morality and bravery along with education among students. “The project is connecting the children across the country with the longstanding heritage of Indian-ness, and is building their personality.”
The event was also attended by Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, MoS for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, chiefs of the three armed forces, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.
Over 100 NCC cadets and students from Army Public Schools & Cantonment Boards were in attendance. Students and teachers from over 500 schools joined virtually. The event was also attended by the Gallantry Awards Portal (GAP) Project team from the United Service Institution (USI) of India.
Veer Gatha 2.0, the second edition of project Veer Gatha, was organised in the backdrop of overwhelming success of Veer Gatha Edition-1 last year which was jointly initiated by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The project comes under the umbrella of Gallantry Award Portal where the school students are motivated to do projects/activities based on the life and valour of gallantry award winners.
