JAMMU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a balanced development across regions, and in all sectors. Addressing a massive rally at MA Stadium here on February 20, after launching projects worth over Rs. 32,000 crore for J&K and worth Rs 13,500 crore for other parts of the country, the PM said the Government has reached people’s doorstep in J&K for the first time.

Pointing out that Jammu & Kashmir has been a victim of dynastic politics for many generations where the welfare of the people was completely neglected and the youth incurred huge losses, the Prime Minister underlined that such governments barely prioritise making policies for the youth.

“Those thinking about the welfare of their own families will never spare a thought for the common citizens”, PM Modi exclaimed. He expressed delight that the dynastic politics in the Union Territory is coming to an end now.

The Prime Minister said that to create a Viksit Jammu & Kashmir, the Government is focussed on the poor, farmers, youth and Nari Shakti. He noted that Jammu & Kashmir is fast becoming a major hub of education and skill development.

He said that a developed India means a developed Jammu & Kashmir. He said that it was a remarkable day for J&K as the projects in Jammu and Kashmir will propel holistic development of the region. The PM said that a record number of schools, colleges and universities were established in India in the last 10 years, with 50 new degree colleges set up in J&K alone.

The development projects which PM Modi launched or laid the foundation stone for include those related to education, railways, aviation and road sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

While projects for other parts of the country include IITs, IIMs and Central universities. The PM also distributed appointment letters to about 1,500 newly recruited Government employees of J&K and interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu’ programme.
