In a major step forward for the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Optiemus Unmanned Systems has joined forces with Taiwan-based Avix Technologies to develop and manufacture high-tech drone components in India.

The partnership, announced at the Milipol India Exhibition 2025 in New Delhi, will focus on producing advanced drone cameras, gimbals, and related systems. The goal: strengthen India’s domestic defence technology ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.

Optiemus Unmanned Systems, a subsidiary of Optiemus Infracom Ltd., launched four new drones at the event: the Marak VT100, Vajra QC55, a canister-launched loitering munition, and first-person view (FPV) drones. These models are built for defence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, including operations in high-altitude and GPS-denied environments.

A standout feature is the use of optical fibre cable (OFC) navigation in the FPV drones, which enables them to function even when electronic jamming blocks conventional signals.

Avix will contribute its deep expertise in UAV electronics and design, while Optiemus brings local market insight and manufacturing strength. “We’re proud to be pushing the boundaries of India’s defence capabilities with this collaboration,” said Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of Optiemus Group. “This isn’t just about drones—it’s about building a self-reliant, tech-forward defence sector.”

Avix CEO Cooper Chang added, “This partnership is about co-developing technologies that are custom-built for India’s strategic needs.”

Optiemus is also working with several Indian suppliers, who are showcasing their locally made components at the exhibition—another boost to the growing ‘Make in India’ defence ecosystem.
