In a significant leap forward for dementia care in India, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, has formally launched the Dementia Design Studio. This innovative platform, developed in collaboration with the Office of PSA and National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), aims to revolutionize dementia care by combining traditional methods with cutting-edge technology solutions.

Leap in Dementia Care

Transforming Lives through Integrated Care
The Dementia Design Studio integrates environmental design, assistive technologies, and intelligent systems to create culturally relevant, non-pharmacological solutions tailored to the Indian context. Patients and caregivers can access multiple activities, models, and solutions to address day-to-day challenges at home.

Expert Insights and Collaborative Approach
At the virtual launch event, Prof. Sood emphasized the need for dedicated centers to address neurodegenerative disorders like dementia, highlighting early diagnosis, patient-centric care, and research. He praised the studio’s potential to enhance quality of life for people living with dementia, stressing the importance of collaboration in developing culturally appropriate solutions.

Key Partners and Support
The initiative is supported by CSR funding from Lowe’s India, Mr. NC Murthy, Chairman ACM solutions, and Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan, Former Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions, through the Manthan O/o PSA platform.

A New Era in Holistic Dementia Care
With the Dementia Design Studio, India takes a significant step forward in providing comprehensive support for dementia patients and caregivers. This pioneering initiative promises to transform lives and set a new standard in dementia care.
