Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s startup ecosystem is flourishing at an unprecedented pace backed by the innovative spirit of country’s youth power.

Addressing the ‘Startup Mahakumbh’ at Bharat Mandapam on the third day, PM Modi said that “today, when the country is working on the roadmap for a developed India by 2047, this ‘Startup Mahakumbh’ is of great importance”. He said that in the last decade, India has made strides in the IT and software sector and now, people are seeing the trend of innovation and Startup culture.

The Prime Minister said India has more than 1.25 lakh Startups and 110 unicorns and mentioned that Startup revolution is being led by the youth of small towns

“India is the third largest startup ecosystem with 1.25 lakh startups involving 12 lakh youth who are directly linked with them”, he said, and added, “Startup has become a social culture and no one can stop a social culture”.

PM Modi mentioned that Startup India initiative has given a platform to innovative ideas and connected them to funding. He added that India’s youth has chosen the path of being job creator rather than job seeker.

The Prime Minister said India has more than 1.25 lakh Startups and 110 unicorns and mentioned that Startup revolution is being led by the youth of small towns. “Some people think that our startups are limited to Tech Space only.

But I am happy that today I have seen start-ups in agriculture, textile, medicine, transport, space and even yoga. Startup has started in Ayurveda. And not just one or two…I keep seeing that the number is 300-300, 400-400. And there is something new in each of them,” he said.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said that Startups are making an important contribution towards realising the goal of a developed nation by 2047.
