NAVAL FIREPOWER

INS Vindhyagiri, a stealth ship of the Indian Navy, was launched by President Droupadi Murmu on August 17 at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited in Kolkata. Named after a mountain range in Karnataka, this is the sixth of seven ships being built for the Navy under ‘Project 17 Alpha’. It is capable of neutralising threats in all three dimensions air, surface and underwater. Project 17A ships have been designed in-house by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
