NEW DELHI: The national Capital witnessed a significant milestone in women’s empowerment with the launch of #HerSkillHerFuture, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the lives of 1,00,000 widows through skill development and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The programme, spearheaded by the Women’s Collective Forum in collaboration with The Loomba Foundation and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), exemplifies the power of collective leadership and partnership.

The initiative focuses on providing widows with skills tailored to industry demands and connecting them to viable employment opportunities, fostering financial independence and long-term sustainability. Cherie Blair CBE (Cherie Booth K.C.) and Lord Loomba CBE, renowned global advocates for widow empowerment, have been instrumental in addressing the challenges faced by widows worldwide. Their leadership and dedication have inspired this initiative, supported by the proactive involvement of industry leaders like Sunil Kant Munjal.

Speaking at the event, Cherie Blair emphasised the transformative potential of the programme, noting that “economic inclusion is a vital step towards ensuring widows lead dignified, independent lives.” Lord Loomba reiterated the urgent need to address the marginalisation of widows, highlighting the programme’s role in driving meaningful change. Under the aegis of the CII Foundation, the initiative seeks to leverage industry expertise to create a robust support system for widows, ensuring their skilling journey leads to tangible livelihood outcomes. “When businesses embrace their role in fostering inclusion, the impact is truly transformative,” said Sunil Kant Munjal.
