NEW DELHI: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)’s “Crime in India 2023” report has praised the law -and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh, which has the highest population in the country.

According to the report, there were zero communal and religious riots in Uttar Pradesh in 2023. This is a result of the Yogi Adityanath Government’s zero-tolerance policy implemented since 2017. According to the data, the crime rate in Uttar Pradesh was 25 percent lower than the national average.

The overall crime rate in the country was 448.3, while in Uttar Pradesh it was only 335.3. This clearly shows that since 2017, Uttar Pradesh has become a bastion of peace and social harmony.

The report stated that between 2012 and 2017, there were 815 riots in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in 192 deaths. In contrast, there were 121 deaths in 616 incidents between 2007 and 2011. In contrast, no major riots have occurred since 2017. The Government controlled two violent incidents in Bareilly and Bahraich within 24 hours, restoring peace.

The report also states that various crimes in Uttar Pradesh have fallen significantly compared to the national average. For example, rioting cases registered 39,260 cases nationwide (crime rate 2.8), while Uttar Pradesh registered only 3,160 cases (crime rate 1.3). Kidnapping for ransom cases registered 615 cases in India, while Uttar Pradesh registered only 16 cases. Robbery cases registered 3,792 cases in India (crime rate 0.3), while Uttar Pradesh registered only 73 cases, giving the state a ‘near zero’ crime rate. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strict policies, prompt action, and transparent governance have curbed crime in Uttar Pradesh.
