NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Lepcha to celebrate Diwali with the brave jawans of our defence forces. Indian Army soldiers and Indo-Tibetan Border Police troops stand guard at this border with China in Himachal Pradesh.
“Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces,” said the Prime Minister in a post on the social media X.
The temperature at this frontier varies between 4o C and –10o C at this time of the year.
Since he assumed office in 2014, this is the 10th Diwali that PM Modi celebrated with our guardians at the frontiers.
Incidentally, Himachal Pradesh shares a boundary of about 250 km in Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti with the Tibet Autonomous region in China. This includes around 160-km stretch from Daroti to Mumti Dogri in Kinnaur and over 80 km at Chumar in Lahaul-Spiti.
In a separate message, the Prime Minister extended his greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
He wrote on his X handle: “Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this special festival bring joy, prosperity and wonderful health to everyone’s lives.”
