NEW DELHI: EV charging company, CHARGE+ZONE unveiled its super charging network, marking a significant stride in the country’s high-speed EV charging landscape. The network strategically positions superchargers along major highways and within city centers, offering essential amenities such as washrooms, restaurants, and shopping facilities. Some stations also integrate solarpanels on canopies for sustainable power.
The inaugural supercharging stations commenced operations in Mumbai and Vellorein November 2023 due to the high traffic volume on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway and the demand for fast charging options in prime commercial complexes like BKC, Mumbai.
Superchargers convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), providing high-power DC voltage and current directly to EV batteries for rapid charging. Equipped with 180 KW dual gun chargers and 360 KW power cabinets, these stations feature: four guns delivering 60 KW each at 200 Amp, and one gun delivering 500 A (DC) current with liquid cooling, a first-of-its-kind introduction in India
