NEW DELHI: Ola Mobility has announced the launch of its ebike services in Delhi and Hyderabad. This service will start from a base fare of Rs 25. It plans to deploy 10,000 electric two-wheelers across three cities in the next two months and gradually scale up its service across the country. The company first launched a pilot project e-bike service in Bangalore last September.
“In line with the company’s vision and growth strategy of serving 1 billion Indians and nationwide penetration with electrification, Ola plans to deploy 10,000 e-vehicles over the next 2 months across these (Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore) cities,” the company said in a statement.
Ola intends to price its e-bike service competitively, starting at Rs 25 for a 5-kilometer ride, Rs 50 for 10 kilometers, and Rs 75 for 15 kilometers. Emphasizing affordability, sustainability, and convenience, the company positions its eBike service as a solution for urban commuting.
Hemant Bakshi, CEO of Ola Mobility, highlighted electrification as a pivotal element in enhancing affordability within the mobility sector. “The success of the e-Bike taxi pilot in Bangalore demonstrated its viability for consumers (lower pricing), drivers (increased earnings), and Ola (new revenue streams). Now, Ola aims for widespread deployment in Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad,” he added.
