Auto digitisation and risk of cyber-attacks

ANOTHER startup, called Ekjal Tech, is dedicated to offering goods and qualified services for cyber security in automobiles.

The automotive sector is undergoing a profound transformation with the digitalisation of in-car systems. Today, cars contain up to 150 electronic control units and about 100 million lines of software code, projected to rise to 300 million lines of code by 2030.

As cars are getting connected, and with increasing use of IoT devices in cars, the risk of cars being infected with malware/malicious virus is real. With the advent of EVs, the extent of digitisation in cars is going to increase and the risk of cyber-attack is also going to increase. The UN Economic Commission of Europe has already passed two regulations relating to cyber security in automobile and it is only a matter of time, a short time, that this would be as necessary as fresh air for breathing.

Bug bounty tool

A cutting-edge blockchain-based bug bounty tool is being built by Starwinglobals Era to assist businesses and ethical hackers in connecting and properly securing their digital assets through crowdsourcing. Their goal is to create the largest force of ethical hackers in the world to aid in the defence of businesses and governments against cyber-attacks and other forms of electronic warfare. As opposed to Tig0s Secure, it plans to create a secure physical hardware crypto solution based on current VLSI technology and tried-and-true cryptoalgorithms and proven on FPGA devices. In this architecture, pre- and post-synthesis are carried out using VLSI front-end and back-end tools.

Clean energy is possibly the most important topic for the current generation and may remain so for coming generations as well. Abhivyakti 2023 had several startups trying to mitigate the issue of climate change and promote sustainability. Offgrid has developed ZincGel battery technology, which provides both performance and commercial advantages over Li-ion batteries. Offgrid has more than 20 IPs in ZincGel and is already working with partners in the oil and gas, utility, and mobility industries to introduce ZincGel all over the world.

Ground-breaking tool

Similar to how IIT Kanpur developed the portable soil testing tool known as Bhu-Parikshak, AgroNxt Services has created one for use in cultivation.

It is a ground-breaking tool that can assess the condition of the soil in just 90 seconds. One-time-use, cropspecific, 100% organic biofertilizers, seeds, fertiliser capsules, and pesticides are being developed by LCB Fertilizers. To create their goods, they use biomasses, highly absorbent polymers, nanoparticles, and combinations of microbes. They are currently assisting more than 25 000 Indian farmers by increasing yield and cutting expenditure by 48 per cent.

One of India’s most laudable and promising medical device innovation initiatives, Hridyantra, is positioned at IIT Kanpur. The project was unveiled in 2022 by the School of Medical Research and Technology (SMRT) at IIT Kanpur.

Recently, IIT Kanpur collaborated on a multi-institutional initiative to jointly create the hardware and software from the ground up for the domestic 5G network. Visitors to Abhivyakti had the chance to tour the 5G testbed facility and gain a first-hand understanding of the work being done at IITK, not just for the 5G network but also for other projects.

New wave from agri-belt

Having visited Abhivyakti 2023, one is not in doubt that a new wave of innovation is arising in the country and this one is not from IT centres of the country but from agri-belt of IndoGangetic plains. It was also obvious that startups are generating interest not only from the student community but also public at large. Abhivyakti 2023 witnessed approximately 10,000 visitors, including budding entrepreneurs, government officials, industry representatives, investors, and mentors from across the country.

In conclusion, the development of the startup ecosystem in India is making foray in greenfield areas beyond the traditionally established centres for such innovation. This augurs a very healthy trend. When areas like UP with over 120 million youth start contributing to the innovation kitty of the country it is bound to create a quantum impact on the country’s overall innovation position. Abhivyakti 2023 brought good tidings to this effect.
