Blitz India Special

MUMBAI: With its focus on development news, Blitz India is determined to redefine the goals and objectives of today’s journalism. It is committed to pave the way for contributing to nation building with a positive mindset. This was stated by Deepak Dwivedi, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Blitz India, in Mumbai on September 15.

Dwivedi was addressing an august gathering organised at the iconic NCPA to pay tribute to Blitz’s founder editor and legend RK Karanjia on his 110th birth anniversary. On the occasion, Blitz India announced its entry into the financial capital of the country. Blitz India, said Dwivedi, was convinced that for the all-round development of the country, sustained coverage of the ideas, policies, programmes, activities and events dealing with the improvement of the life of people is needed.

He said, “Our mission is clear; Blitz India wants to be the purveyor of information that spurs upward economic, infrastructure, and social mobility and growth in our country. Ever since the advent of Blitz India, there have been debates in some quarters whether it is pro or anti-establishment. We don’t believe in such binaries. Blitz India aims to spread positivity by focusing on whatever is in national interest and helps create a better, and happier, society.”

Our mission is clear; Blitz India wants to be the purveyor of information that spurs upward economic, infrastructure and social mobility and growth in our country: Deepak Dwivedi

Elaborating further, Dwivedi said the past few years have seen India embarking upon the path of inclusive development with a new mindset – new-age policies and new socioeconomic goals. A new kind of politics and a new governance agenda has now taken the centre-stage, with a view to building a New India. Blitz India wishes to be a stakeholder in this process by acting as a catalyst, he emphasised.

Among the dignitaries present on the stage were Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways; Chhagan Bhujbal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Kripashankar Singh, former Home Minister, Maharashtra; Retd Major General SP Sinha; Prafulla Marpakwar, senior journalist, Times of India; Hasan Kamal, author, journalist, and lyricist; Kumar Prashant of Gandhi Peace foundation and Anil Vohra, Chairman of the Board, Blitz India Media Trust.

Remembering Karanjia, Union Minister Naik said it was an honour to be part of the celebrations held to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of Rustom Khurshedji Karanjia, a legendary journalist, former MP & Founder Editor, Blitz. He wished for the grand success of Blitz India and exuded confidence that the weekly tabloid will successfully carry forward the legacy of Karanjia.

The other speakers also paid glowing tributes to Karanjia and expressed the hope that Blitz India will be able to stick to the ideals propagated by the legend. Lauding the development focus of the weekly newspaper, they said Mumbai had great expectations from Blitz India.

In keeping with the ethos of the NCPA, the launch event was preceded by an hour-long cultural programme that included musical renditions of Ganesh Vandana and Durga Stuti, which kept the audience spellbound. A sumptuous dinner brought the curtains down on the entire proceedings.
