Experts in Ayurveda contributed to the episode of “Ayurveda Special” that was broadcasted on July 9, 2023, at Healing Our Earth, a free global online community channel. Ayurveda is one of the most blooming fields of today, Ayurvedic professionals from different countries presented on the topics of their expertise. The subjects were intriguing since they dealt with remedies and treatments for everyday problems and health sustenance. Ayurveda Episode Producer at Healing Our Earth, Prof. Ish Sharma and Senior resident host Dr. Amrita Sharma were this episode’s hosts.

The episode began by chanting the Gayatri mantra, then the first guest contributor Dr. Priyanka Chorge, a Germany based Ayurvedic physician spoke on the use of Ayurveda in treating neurological problems. She mentioned a number of neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes caused by the disturbance in the propulsive forces (Vata) in our body. She emphasized the importance of food in both preventing and treating neurological diseases enlisting certain fruits, vegetables and Ayurvedic herbs to be used .

The origins of Ayurveda and the treatment techniques in the field of Ayurveda paediatrics were further explained by Vaidya Rajagopala SriKrishna, professor and department head in Ayurveda Paediatrics (Bal Rog) at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi. Shedding light on the ways in which this ancient science discusses the child and their development while offering parenting advice, youngster’s Swarna prashanatonic, child psychology approach, age-specific food for developing youngsters, mothers’ milk substitution, particular nutritional care for children and much more. He continued, saying that general child care encompasses preserving one’s physical and mental well-being. For this reason, All India Institute of Ayurveda with the support of Ministry of Ayush has launched ‘Bal Raksha Kit’ that helps boost immunity of children.

Prof. Ish Sharma who is currently at Ayurveda chair in University of Mauritius has been successful in spreading Ayurveda in Mauritius. He mentioned that Ayurvedic food patterns are being recommended to the public and will soon be covered in school curricula for teaching children about Ayurveda. He additionally highlighted the Ayurveda promotion initiatives that have been put in place in Mauritius. For the first time, an Ayurvedic garden with various species of Ayurvedic herbs was set up in the Presidential palace in an effort to promote Ayurveda. He is looking forward to implement new policies in the field of Ayurveda and advocate for Ayurvedic health education among the general population in Mauritius.

Dinacharya-Ayurvedic Daily Routine was discussed by Vaidya Vandana Baranwal, an America based Ayurvedic physician and President of the Ayurvedic Association of Ohio. In context of Dinacharya, she talked about the idea of the five elements of nature . Their existence, interaction, and how they play out in their natural state to create the energy that powers the three humors i.eVata, Pitta, and Kapha. She continued by pointing out how these energies control the day and night and how nature is blessed with seasons and a clock driven by these forces. Our daily lives are greatly impacted by energy supremacy. This innate cycle of energies should guide our way of existence. In order to extend our life and improve our health and happiness, we should follow the right Dinacharya.

An Ayurvedic doctor from Hungary, Dr Rakesh Zope gave a lecture titled “Herbs for Health: Knowledge and Tips from Dravyaguna.” He emphasized the importance of herbs in our lives. Herbs give us oxygen, health, and nourishment, demonstrating that life is self-sustaining.
How nature has bestowed us with the wealth of herbs. We consume them as food and medicine in different forms like as fruits, vegetables, cereals, herbal teas and much more. He highlighted that we are what we eat therefore, we must appreciate the value of herbs and use them carefully .

In the presentation on home remedies, Prof. Shantala Priyadarshini, who currently holds the Ayurveda Chair at the University of Latvia, emphasized the importance of and utilization of the Agnihotra (homa) ceremony in our daily life. In her presentation, she shed light on how the idea of homa was transmitted from one nation to another and how homa is practiced in many cultures and locales. She also spoke about the practices associated with Agnihoma (Yajna), its oracles, and its customs. How this ancient idea continues to inspire people’s beliefs and how it benefits their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

In order to support the opinions of the contributors and for his expert advice, Vaidya Rajan Patankar, a senior resident panelist at Healing Our Earth, was also present. Following the conclusion of the episode, a leader established a momentum that would eventually result in a global Ayurveda alliance for which concerted attempts are being made.
