LONDON: Australia defeated England by 43 runs to win the second Test match at Lords on July 2. The Aussies thus went 2-0 up in the five match series having already won the opening Test.
Australia, the reigning World Test Champions were tested all the way by England who fought back brillianty through their skipper Ben Stokes who hit a terrific knock of 155.
Stokes’ aggressive batting, including nine sixes and nine fours, raised hopes of a repeat of his memorable match-winning performance against Australia at Headingley four years ago.
When England needed 70 runs for victory, Ben Stokes made a costly error when he skied a delivery to lose his wicket and hand over victory to Australia.
