NEW DELHI: The Lodha Committee came up with a host of recommendations regarding the running of the IPL in the aftermath of the spot-fixing scandal which hit the 2014 edition of the premier tournament. The recommendations were submitted in July 2015.

The committee was appointed by the Supreme Court to make necessary changes with regard to certain appointment conditions of the CEO and the CFO of the IPL. It also made observations regarding the age and tenure of the office-bearers and gave important suggestions regarding the advertisements during the IPL matches.

The following are some of the salient features of the Lodha Committee report: a. The age of the administrator was fixed at 70 years. Anyone above this age would automatically cease to be as a BCCI administrator.

b. The tenure of any administrator was fixed to two terms. Previously, there were BCCI officials who were in office for as long as four terms and it seemed there was no retirement age. This was done away with by the Lodha Committee. For the BCCI President, it laid down the tenure of two terms.

c. To make the working within the BCCI more transparent, the committee advocated one vote per state. This was a very strict clause. d. The IPL was to be run by a sovereign and independent governing body.

e. The BCCI officials were expected to declare their assets to the governing body. This was done in order to ensure that they don’t indulge in match-fixing.
